CHECK A
Typically performed in a hangar, an A Check procedure is carried out after
to 800 flight hours or 200 to 400 cycles, whichever comes first.
Check B
A more intensive inspection that’s carried out every 4 to 6 months, which might take up to 150 hours to complete.

• C Check – According to recommendations from manufacturers, a C check will be performed after a certain number of pre-indicated flight hours, roughly averaging out somewhere in the neighborhood of every 15 to 21 months. This type of check is much more exhaustive and tends to take up to a couple of weeks.
• D Check – also referred to as an “HMV” inspection (or Heavy Maintenance Visit), a D check is the most thorough of all the inspection types. Procedures might even include paint stripping (to test the integrity of the fuselage, for example). The average D check can easily last a couple of months and each one tends to be planned well in advance.
